Pasquale Commits to UCONN

The Northeast Generals are proud to announce that Goaltender Matt Pasquale has committed to play NCAA D1 hockey for the University of Connecticut. The 6’2, 190 pound goalie will join the Huskies for the 2nd Semester this year.

The 2000 birth year goalie from North Reading joined the Generals in early December of 2019. In 3 starts with the Generals Pasquale went 2-1 with a 3.92 GAA and a .906 SV%.

From North Reading, MA, Pasquale played his High School hockey at Central Catholic in Lawrence, MA. While at CC, Pasquale posted unreal numbers. In 68 games he had a 1.27 GAA and a .942 SV %.

“Matt came to our attention very early as he has been with Steve Mastalerz our Goalie coach with GDS Goaltending for numerous years. Steve has always spoken incredibly highly of Matt as a goalie and as a person. And Steve and Matt delivered. Even though he was here for a short time he did a great job on the ice and in the locker room. Really excited for Matt as I think he has truly earned this commitment. He will be missed but the luxury of having 2 high end goalies, with Joey Stanizzi being the other, is that we get to wish one player good luck and still have a legit #1 goalie that will get his D1 commitment soon.” said Northeast Generals GM/Head Coach Bryan Erikson.

“Matt is a great kid that I think will have a ton of success at the next level because of his work ethic and attention to detail. He never quits on pucks and is always in the play. UCONN is getting a good one.”

The University of Connecticut Huskies play in the Hockey East Conference. They have 6 current NHL Draft picks on their roster and have had a ton of success moving players to the professional level. The Huskies are currently 7-9-4 on the season and 4-6-2 in League play. However they stand only 5 points out of first place.

Pasquale’s commitment makes the 3rd Generals goalie to commit to play Division 1 College hockey in just 3 and 1/2 seasons, joining Gabe Vinal (2016-2017) at Brown and David Fessenden (2016-2019) at Alabama Huntsville.

The Northeast Generals are proud members of the North American Hockey League and have had a lot of success placing players at the Division 1 level. For more information about the Generals please visit http://www.northeastgenerals.com
