Cody Gonyeau, Assistant General Manager, Head Scout

Cody has been with the Northeast Generals for over 3 years. Originally from Sault Ste. Marie MI, Gonyeau played hockey in SMHA & Sault Blue Devil Hockey (09′). He earned a Bachelor’s of Science in Secondary Education from Central Michigan University. This season, Gonyeau will be Head Coach for the Cleveland Barons U15 team. He has coached U14 & U16 for the Cleveland Barons through 2 seasons and also works as the program’s Director of Advancement where he focuses on player skill development, mentorship, career advancement, and junior-to-pro hockey education. Continuing for the upcoming year, Coach Gonyeau will be the Academy Director for the Cleveland Athletic Academy, a development system organized by the Cleveland Barons to enrich the training process both on and off the ice. Prior to the Barons, he coached the Cleveland Wildcats U15 team and spent 3 season coaching with Saint Ignatius High School. Gonyeau is a partner with Prime Hockey, an international hockey company organized throughout Russia, Europe, & North America that is designed to identify players & offer guidance to hockey advancement.

Steve joins the Generals after an extensive career in hockey.  Steve will bring his wealth of experience both in scouting and coaching to the organization.

Mike Sadjadi, Director of Minnesota Scouting

Michael Sadjadi grew up playing high-school hockey at prestigious Shattuck St. Mary’s (Faribault, MN). After Shattuck, he went on to play for the Chatham Maroons Western Ontario Hockey League (Chatham, ON – WOHL), where he and his goalie partner combined for the leagues lowest Goals Against Average (GAA) and won the league championship. The next season he played for the Portage Terriers of the Manitoba Junior A Hockey League (Portage, Manitoba – MJHL). After junior hockey, Mike moved on to the professional level to play for the Fayetteville Fire-Antz of the Southern Professional Hockey League (Fayetteville, NC – SPHL); however, sidelined with a career-ending hand injury Mike became a student at the University of Akron (Ohio) and pursued a degree in Labor Economics.
During his freshman year, Michael began coaching the University of Akron club hockey team and was named the head coach his junior year. During Mike’s senior year, he was asked to represent the Tri-State Colligate Hockey League (TSCHL) as co-head coach of the all-star team for the American Colligate Hockey Association (ACHA) showcase weekend. Since college, Mike moved back to Minnesota where he pursued a career in finance starting as a bank teller at TCF Bank and eventually working his way to management. Mike then transitioned from banking to finance and holds a Series 7 and Series 66 FINRA securities licenses.
Currently, Mike is an assistant coach with the Metro Northwest (Green Giants) a fall all-star team consisting of elite Minnesota high-school players.

Matt Guffey, Director of Western US Scouting

Matt currently serves as a coach for the San Jose Jr. Sharks 18AAA and 16AAA teams. He is entering his fifth season with the Jr. Sharks and is looking forward to contributing to the Generals organization moving forward. Prior to coaching Matt played for Worcester State University at the NCAA Division III level.

When Matt isn’t coaching for the Jr. Sharks, he works as a power skating and shooting instructor. He is also active in both player and coaching development, having coached at USA Hockey’s Western Regional Camp in Colorado Springs for the past four years.

Sean Tallaire, Director of Michigan Scouting

Sean joins the Generals after an extensive playing and Coaching career.  After playing 4 years at Lake Superior State and being drafted by the Vancouver Canucks, Sean played professional hockey both in Germany and in the IHL.  His most recent coaching position was with the Soo Indians.  He has also spent 4 years with Neutral Zone scouting the Michigan area.

Chris Jones, Regional Scout – MA/RI
Chris is the Owner and Executive Director of the Rhode Island Hitmen.   He founded the program in 2008 and has grown it into one of the top youth programs in New England.   He is originally from Whitesboro, NY and graduated from SUNY Geneseo in 1999 with a Bachelor’s degree in English.  Chris started his Coaching career in 2003 with Monroe County Youth Hockey in Rochester, NY and has primarily worked with Midget age players over the last 17 seasons. He is a certified USA Hockey Level 5 (Master) Coach.  He has helped numerous players move on to play Prep and College Hockey.  Over the last 13 seasons, he has run all aspects of the Hitmen Organization from recruiting, scheduling, marketing, staffing, advising, and budgeting for all teams.   In 2015, he received the Executive of the Year award for the Eastern Junior Elite Prospects League (EJEPL).  This past season, Jones Coached the U15 Beast team and will be Coaching the U16 Beast team for the upcoming season.   In addition to the Hitmen, he has Coached at the High School level in Rhode Island and was a Team leader at the USA development Camp held in Rhode Island in 2012.  In the Summer,  Chris serves as the Assistant Director and Head of Recruiting for Little Rhody Hockey Club which has players from all over North America.  He is married with two boys and currently lives in Coventry, Rhode Island.
